The state of Utah in the western United States was founded by Mormons and named after the Ute Indian people living there. In 2002 the Olympic Winter Games were held in the capital, Salt Lake City. The best way to explore the numerous national parks is by car tours. The Bryce Canyon National Park is located at over 2,400 meters on the Colorado Plateau. In addition to the so-called hoodoos, the colored rock pyramids, there are ancient rock drawings to discover here. The Scenic Drive takes you to 13 viewpoints. The Arches National Park and the Capitol Reef National Park invite you to take long hikes, climb or bike. Utah is also famous for its dinosaur finds. Archaeological sites, museums and the Dinosaur National Monument near Vernal take you back in time to these gigantic reptiles.

The atmosphere of the Wild West, on the other hand, comes back to life in the numerous ghost towns such as Old Bryce Town or Silver City. In the capital, Salt Lake City, you can learn about the culture of the Mormons. Built in the neo-Gothic style, the Salt Lake Temple is particularly impressive due to its size. In the Church History Museum, visitors can learn a lot about the history of this most strongly represented religious community. The city of Logan invites you to water sports on its Bear Lake in summer, e.g. B. for wakeboarding.

Utah has a steppe climate. Summers are hot and dry at around 30 C, while winters are very snowy and temperatures are around zero C. The high mountains with many slopes make the region an ideal destination for your skiing holiday.

There are direct flights from Germany to the international airport in Salt Lake City. Numerous other airports can be reached by domestic flight. The time difference from the Mountain Standard Time there is eight hours from Germany.
