Montana Zip Code Map

The high peaks of the Rocky Mountains, extensive national parks, fish-rich waters and the vast plains of the Great Plains shape the landscape of the fourth largest US state of Montana. The presence of numerous mineral resources such as oil, gold and precious stones earned the state the nickname "Treasure State". However, the strongest industries are cattle breeding and grain growing. The former capital of Montana was Virginia City, and the city of Helena has had this function since 1889.

Attractions
A small part of the UNESCO-protected Yellowstone National Park is located on the Montana state territory. Bisons, wolves and grizzly bears are at home in the oldest national park in the world. Discover its volcanic landscapes and spectacular geysers for which the park is famous. Not far from the Yellowstone National Park, the 3901 meter high Granite Peak rises, the highest elevation in Montana. In the northwest corner of the state is Glacier National Park, the "Crown of North America", right in the Rocky Mountains.

The Going-to-the-Sun Road leads through the park, one of the most beautiful panoramic roads in the world, over a distance of 88 kilometers. Let yourself be enchanted by the numerous glaciers, the high alpine fauna and flora and the incomparable views. Montana's history is palpable in the abandoned gold digger camps, the mysterious ghost and western cities, the gold and copper mines and the indigenous memorials close. Today's ghost towns of Nevada City and Virginia City testify to the era of the gold rush and the first European settlers. There are seven Indian Reservations on the Montana territory, including the Fort Peck Indian Reservation of the Dakota Indians. The Sioux have their retreat in the Great Plains plains. The most important memorial, The Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument commemorates the US cavalry's struggle against the Indian tribes. The Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site takes visitors back in time to the big cattle farms in the Wild West. The exciting rodeos and Indian Pow-Wows, which take place from May to October, also give an impression of the culture of Montana.

Travel tips and best travel time
The time difference to Germany is eight hours. Due to the northern location in the United States, some visitors believe that the weather in Montana is rough and cool. They are then pleasantly surprised by the mild climate and low humidity: warm and dry summers alternate with cold, snowy winters.
