and dark blue lakes awaits visitors in the US state of Maine.
The state of Maine is located on the northeastern border of the
United States on the border with Canada and is part of New
England. The epithet Pine Tree State shows that the landscape is
characterized by thick pine forests. The wide, rocky coasts on
the Atlantic are also characteristic of the state, which is
roughly the size of Austria and is inhabited by 1.3 million
people.
Attractions
Augusta is the capital of Maine and its small size already
illustrates the relaxed lifestyle of the locals. Attractions at
Kennebec Rive include the Maine State House and the Viles
Arboretum. The New England state is particularly popular for its
varied, unspoiled nature. Especially along the long, mostly
rocky coast, you can take wonderful hikes. The highlight is the
route that leads past the Portland Head Light. The oldest
lighthouse in Maine was built in the 18th century. The Arcadia
National Park in the northeast of the state is also impressive.
In the park on Mount Desert Island, there are breathtaking
rock formations created after the last ice age to be explored,
as well as steep mountains and dark blue lakes. In addition,
among other things, black bears, foxes and squirrels inhabit the
natural jewel. Further highlights in the almost untouched nature
are the wildly romantic Moosehead Lake and the Baxter State
Park, which is located in the foothills of the Appalachian
Mountains and offers fantastic views.
